Shinzi Katoh: Zakka Designer + Artist
Shinzi Katoh is a renowned Zakka artist, based in Aichi, Japan, where he has his own gallery, shop and museum. His signature illustrations on his Zakka products feature children in dreamlike wonder, landscapes, happy animals and fantastical activities.

Mr Katoh has illustrated several children and adult books, and is the creator of the popular “Solarbear” character educating people on the effects of global warming. He has held several exhibitions in Japan and around the world, and is currently preparing for his next one in New York. |
What is Zakka?
Zakka ('雑貨'; or 'many things') means anything and everything in the house which adds cheers and comfort with its simple aesthetic form. Simply put, it is a design movement that captures the imaginative, whimsical, romantic or kiddish aspects of our lifestyle experience.
